CONSULTATION- Draft Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy

Following a policy review under the Building Act 2004, Kawerau District Council has adopted a revised draft policy for dangerous, affected and insanitary buildings for public consultation.  Key changes in the draft policy are that:

  • Layout and structure of document
  • Statutory definitions are set out in full and include section references; and
  • Council’s approach to its functions in relation to dangerous, affected and insanitary buildings is more clearly set out.

The changes are intended to improve clarity of the policy and understanding for users.

Inspection

The draft policy is available for inspection at the District Office in Ranfurly Court and on Council’s website:  http://www.kaweraudc.govt.nz 

Submissions

Council invites submissions to the draft policy. Submissions must be in writing and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Kawerau District Council at Private Bag 1004, Kawerau 3169 or at submissions@kaweraudc.govt.nz.  Submissions close at 5.00pm on Friday 19 July 2024.

Public Participation

Submissions will be considered at the Council meeting on Wednesday 31 July 2024.  Anyone who makes a written submission will be given an opportunity to present their views at that meeting.  Submitters are asked to indicate if they wish to speak to their submission.
