An Annual Plan is produced in the years when the Council does not prepare a Long Term Plan (LTP). The purpose of the Annual Plan is to fine tune the costs and funding from that originally proposed in the LTP.

Every three years the Council reviews and produces a Long Term Plan (LTP) which is a legislative requirement.

The Kawerau District Plan was made Operative on 1 May 2012.

The District Plan is a legal document prepared in accordance with the Resource Management Act 1991. It assigns zonings to all land within the Kawerau District to ensure land is available and used for its intended purpose. It also identifies features such natural, cultural and hertiage areas which require special consideration.

Within each zone, the Kawerau District Plan sets out what land use and subdivision activities are premitted or require a resource consent. It also sets out the requirements for each to ensure that adverse effects on people and/or the environment can be managed.

If you wish to use land in a manner which does not comply with the zone rules, you will need to apply for a resource consent.

In this section are the Council's Annual Reports, the Tri-annual Residents Survey, and Dog Control Reports.

Strategy is a document that outlines the Council's vision for the future and the planned actions for how to achieve that vision.
