The Council manages three sports pavilions:
Rangi Delamere Centre
Adjacent to the netball courts on Plunket Street, the Council has rebuilt the Rangi Delamere Centre that is traditionally used by the Netball Club during the winter season. The tennis courts are open for use during the summer. Sadly, the former pavillion was destroyed by arson in early 2020. Council has resolved to spend an additional $600,000 on top of the $550,000 insurance monies to rebuild the Rangi Delamere Centre. That occured in the 2023-2024 year. The Rangi Delamere Centre re-opened Saturday 16 March. The Rangi Delamere Centre is a great venue for birthdays and tournaments. The building is available for hire on a casual basis.
Prideaux Park Pavilion
Adjacent to the Bowling Club on Prideaux Park, this is used by the Harriers and Athletics Clubs and is available for hire on a casual basis.
Tarawera Park Pavilion
Located on Tarawera Park, Kawerau's largest sports field, and used for rugby, soccer, touch and league. It has a set of changing rooms for teams using the park which is available for hire. A great venue for large sports tournaments.
Pavilion Toilets are available at all sports fields and keys for access to these facilities are available when applying for use of a sports field for a fee.
Serviced rubbish bins are available for hire for events, in sets of five 240 litre bins,
Casual use of the pavilions is welcomed for a small charge. For bookings or seasonal use, please contact Council >>.
Please refer to the "Facilities for Hire" section of the Kawerau Council Fees and Charges document for the current charges.
