There are more than 700 street lights in the town. While inspections are undertaken regularly, if you see one that isn't working, please contact the Council, street light faults are attended to on a weekly basis. Ongoing improvement to the street lighting system(such as improved intersection lighting, converting to LED) are considered as a part of Council's improvement programme each year. Council spends approximately $25,000 each year on this.

There is also a programme where power lines are being put underground in some streets.
