‘Local jobs for locals’ through Mayors Taskforce for Jobs

KAWERAU Mayor Malcolm Campbell is pleased to announce a funding package to create jobs for locals in the district.
The $500,000 package is a partnership between the Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs and government to get more people into local jobs.
Mayor Campbell said, “The first step is to employ a coordinator for the programme.”

The funding outcomes are that we will assist 50 people of all ages to secure work locally – so this is an exciting initiative for the 2021/2022 financial year.

The Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs has been ongoing and we have invested a considerable amount of money into work programmes and initiatives in the past.

“But it is great to have this ongoing investment into our rangatahi and people to assist them into fulltime work.”
“Council is working on a number of initiatives but the first step is to employ a great person to coordinate the programme for the coming year.”

“We look forward to kick starting this Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs initiative.”
