Instalment 1 date extended 

Kawerau District Council advises that the due date for the first instalment of rates has been extended until 24 September 2021.
 
At Level 2 the Council Offices are open and ratepayers who usually pay in person can now do so. 
 
This is the first instalment since cheques have been phased out and we appreciate that not everyone has been able to utilise online banking during COVID-19.
 
Council wanted to ensure that no one was disadvantaged if they didn’t have access to technology during lockdown. 
 
Therefore, any ratepayers won’t be charged a penalty as long as the instalment one rates balance is zero by 5pm on 24 September 2021.
 
Kawerau provides a number of payment methods for rates and other services including: 
online banking, direct debits, phone payments with debit or credit cards and by eftpos, cash or credit card in at the Council Offices.
