Reduced Lighting at the BMX Track area

PLEASE be aware there is less lighting around the Kawerau BMX Track area, beside the Recreation Centre. Inspections of the poles found they were in poor condition from sulphur degradation. Because of safety concerns, several sections of pole were removed to ensure public safety in the event of any high winds or storms. 

There is still some lighting on the remaining poles and also the security camera remains operational. 

A proposal for the repair and replacement of the lights will be submitted to the December Council meeting for consideration on Tuesday, December 17.
