All Kawerau homes have had the chance to get involved in the Neighbourhoods of Healthy Homes (NoHH) project since it started five years ago. The energy and maintenance checks consequently ended in March 2017.
NoHH started in 2012 with a three-year planned timeframe. It was initially a pilot approach for creating healthy homes by ensuring Kawerau people were taking advantage of the government’s Warm Up NZ funding, and by building robust communities. The project exceeded expectations and came in under budget after three years. Funders agreed to leave the unspent funds in the project and Council supported NoHH for another two years. The final five neighbourhoods were welcomed into the project in February 2017.
