Kawerau Library Temporarily Closed
AVID book readers are preparing for a temporary closure of the Kawerau District Library on Monday, 13 May 2019.
Kawerau District Library users have been encouraged to borrow ‘mini libraries’ that will see them through the three week closure of the Kawerau District Library from Monday, 13 May to Monday, 3 June 2019.
The closure will enable necessary health and safety alterations to be undertaken.
The temporary closure follows a busy period of activities for the Kawerau District Library including a school holiday performance by children’s best-selling children’s musician and author Deano Yipadee.
During the closure there will be a limited library services available downstairs of the
Kawerau District Council office in Ranfurly Court.
The temporary service will be open from 10.00am until 5.00pm on weekdays and will enable people to return their library books, have them re-issued and select books from a small quantity of books available.
Unfortunately, there will be no computers or newspapers available at the temporary library in the Council offices.
In preparation Kawerau District Library staff have been issuing books for customers until Tuesday, June 4 2019.
Library cardholders can also borrow books from Edgecumbe, Whakatāne and Rotorua libraries.

The Kawerau Writer’s Group will continue to meet in the Council foyer at 11.00am each Wednesday.
The Kawerau District Council apologises for the inconvenience to library users and The Kawerau District Library is scheduled to re-open on Tuesday, 4 June 2019.
