The Council is seeking help from Upper Valley Road residents to rule out other possible avenues of the water sample contamination.
A letterbox drop is being done today to the 60 residents in this area, where a single water sample tested positive for E.Coli on Saturday, 2 January 2020.
The letter asks residents to get in touch if they observed anything different in the water in recent weeks, especially between 1 and 3 January 2020.
The Council is also asking residents to let them know if they used any high-pressure water devices (water blaster, etc.) or filled up a pool or pond with a hose, during this period.
The use of such equipment, is of course, completely acceptable - the question is being asked merely to help the Council and health officials understand what may have caused the single positive reading on Saturday, 2 January 2020.
To advise the Council's Manager of Operations and Services Hanno van der Merwe or for more information residents, particularly those in Kawerau’s Upper Valley area, can phone 07 306 9009 or email Kaweraudc@kaweraudc.govt.nz
